The Clinical Documentation Specialist works as part of the Clinical Coding Management Team and broader Health Information Management Services (HIMS) team and will develop, implement and monitor clinical documentation integrity initiatives to support best practice and patient safety, ensuring quality, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation in the patient health record as well as partner with the clinical coding management team, clinical and other hospital staff to review clinical documentation in health records and provide ongoing education regarding clinical documentation and its relationship to clinical coding and Activity Based Funding (ABF).
- Undertake audits of clinical documentation for current inpatients, monitoring completeness and accuracy for the purpose of both patient safety and subsequent clinical coding, Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) allocation and funding under ABF models.
- Provide feedback, training and education to both clinical and clinical coding staff on the impact of clinical documentation on data integrity, national reporting and revenue.
- Identify, develop, communicate, and implement clinical documentation quality strategies across Hospitals North/North West and Hospitals South including development and maintenance of clinical education resources to support high quality clinical documentation.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and other multidisciplinary teams to facilitate ward based concurrent and retrospective review of clinical documentation including that which impacts patient care decision making such as care type.

Salary: $104,756 - $118,730 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
